Costa Rica Fishing Reports from Rio Colorado Lodge

Fishing Report Week Ending Sep 23, 2019
Johnson Supply from Texas, returned for a three day fishing trip which was cut short by the bad weather in Texas. Flooding made it impossible for them to depart Texas as scheduled, and actually made it completely impossible for one member of the scheduled group to make the trip. The group fished a total of two and a half days and jumped 27 tarpon, bringing 14 to the boat for release. Three of these fish were over 200 pounds! The group consisted of 3 couples, and the leader of the group solo...due to his fishing buddy getting flooded in. All of the ladies caught their first tarpon, of which 2 were in the 140 lb. range and one at least 160 lbs. Way to go ladies. We hope you'll all return and try to one up each other.

John Granmo from Colorado made a return trip to Rio Colorado and fished Saturday and two hours on Sunday. In ten hours of total fishing time, John jumped 8 nice tarpon, bringing 2 to the boat for release. John had visited us in May with two fishing partners ready to catch lots of tarpon on their new fly gear. With perfect weather and sea conditions the fish must have got the lock jaw, and his group, although good sports, left with their dreams unfulfilled. John came back and was NOT disappointed. He actually left biting fish to be sure he did not miss his flight back to the States. Way to go John, hope to see you again soon, and maybe your buddies will join you!

Ron Oswald and Gary Fielding visited again for 2 days. They fished in the ocean which is Ron's preference, and hooked 4 nice tarpon, one so large it straightened the hook before releasing itself. The weather is nice and fishing is good.
